Living Wage Program
The Administration Department ensures compliance with the Living Wage Ordinance by assisting contractors in understanding obligations, monitoring contracts, maintaining records, conducting reviews, investigating complaints, and providing annual reports to Council.
San Diego Municipal Code Division 42 (PDF) states the LWO "advances the interests of the City as a whole by creating jobs that keep workers and their families out of poverty... Paying service employees a living wage is intended to improve the quality of services provided to the City and to the public by reducing high turnover, absenteeism, and instability in the workplace."
