San Diego Excels Again in Digital Technology - November 2007
American cities that excel in the digital arena are being recognized by the Center for Digital Government as found from the 2007 Digital Cities Survey. The seventh annual study examines how cities are using technology to create a seamless environment between local government and constituents. "This year’s winners have really raised the bar for cities," said Cathilea Robinett, executive director for the Center for Digital Government. "Digital technology connects citizens with their government on a level never before achieved."
California's Most Digital City - November 2006
According to rankings by the National League of Cities (NLC) partnering with the Center for Digital Government, San Diego comes out on top as California's Most Digital City. The annual Digital Cities Survey examines how city governments are utilizing digital technologies to better serve their citizens and streamline operations. "We were so happy to see the fantastic improvements and innovations made by cities from coast to coast," said Cathilea Robinett, executive director for the Center for Digital Government. "We can’t help but be inspired and impressed by the amazing strides made by this years participating cities."
San Diego Earns Top Pick Status - Again!

Quality Web Site As Means To Conduct Business, Get Information, or Receive Services from the City
January, 2005 -- The City's Web site received a 93 percent resident satisfaction rating from a survey ( PDF: 543K) conducted in October 2004 by the Behavior Research Center. The survey involved 600 in-depth telephone surveys to obtain statistically significant results with a demographic mix comparable to the actual population of the City. From satisfaction ratings for 34 City services studied, the City's Web site tied for second place with the Fire emergency service.
S.D. City Web Site Rated Second in U.S.
September, 2004 -- A Brown University study of the 70 largest metropolitan government Web sites ranks San Diego second in the nation. This is the fourth year researchers at the Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University have evaluated online government information and services. Rankings are based on such factors as information availability, number of online services, privacy and security policies, disability access and foreign language translation. The Top five ranked sites were Denver, San Diego, New York, Washington, D.C.; and Los Angeles.

PTI is a non-profit organization that recognizes best practices and technological advancements within local governments with their annual Solutions Awards. This year's judges represented ASC State and Local Solutions, Federal Computer Week Magazine, International City/County Management Association, Maryland Municipal IT Directors Assoc., National Academy of Public Administration, the National League of Cities, and Sister Cities International.
San Diego Web Site Wins Coveted 3CMA 2002 Savvy Award
September,
2002 -- Judges for the 14th Annual City-County Communications and
Marketing Association (3CMA) selected
the City of San Diego's redesigned web site for the top Savvy Award in
the category of "Technology Services - Internet and World Wide Web". Judges
said the site was aesthetically pleasing and cohesive, made excellent
use of the home page, had state-of-the-art utilization of current technology,
and made the most efficient use of the web site. The research team evaluated
web sites based on citizen access, privacy, security, and disability access,
among other features.
