25th Street Renaissance Street Enhancement

Project Overview

This project will construct pedestrian amenities, traffic calming, hardscape improvements, and parking along 25th Street, from Interstate 94 to Russ Blvd. The focus of the improvements is between E Street and B Street. Highlights include:

  • Curb extensions (bulbouts) at each intersection for traffic calming.
  • New sidewalk, driveways, and curb ramps.
  • Reverse angled parking along the east side of 25th Street between Broadway and B Street.
  • Restriping of road to 2 travel lanes with a center left-turn lane, and addition of Class II bike lanes.

Also, in order to minimize impacts and consolidate multiple construction projects within the community, a water main replacement project along the project foot print was incorporated into this project.

Project Budget

The project budget is $2,994,000. Funding sources consist of $469,000 from Federal Smart Growth Grant and $2,525,000 from TransNet.

The water main replacement is funded separately through Enterprise Funds.

Schedule

The project is anticipated to start advertising in August 2013. Construction will start approximately five to six months later, and is anticipated to last 7 months.
