Records Disposition Schedules

Council Policy (000-25) (PDF) maintains that every department must have an approved Records Disposition Schedule. Records Disposition Schedules are the core component of a systematic records management program and provide the legal foundation for all City departments to destroy records when retention has expired. Records Disposition Schedules list retention periods for all City records and delineate when records are authorized for City storage. Records Disposition Schedules also assist the departments to stay compliant when laws and state codes change.
