Andrew Jones, Assistant City Attorney

Andrew Jones is a Trial Attorney with over 12 years experience. Mr. Jones' civil practice has covered a wide variety of areas including Civil Rights, Torts, Inverse Condemnation, Unlawful Detainers, and Breach of Contract, among others. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management and Organization from the University of Miami in 1976, and his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in 1996. Mr. Jones started his career in the City Attorney's Office as an intern under former City Attorney John Witt in 1995 and was sworn in as Deputy City Attorney under Casey Gwinn in 1997. During his tenure in the City Attorney's Office, he served as a Criminal Prosecutor for 2 1/2 years prosecuting misdemeanor violations, heading the Discovery unit, and prosecuting abusers in Domestic Violence and Child Abuse cases. For the last 9 1/2 years he has served as a Litigator in the Trial Unit. Mr. Jones has tried over 50 jury trials, over 100 bench trials, and innumerable hearings and other matters in both State and Federal Court. He has held several positions of leadership including President of the Deputy City Attorney's Association, President of the California Western School of Law Alumni Association, and President of the Black Student's Association.

Mr. Jones is married with two children.
