Marlea Dell’Anno is a career prosecutor who joined the City Attorney’s Office in 2009, after gaining fifteen years of trial experience including the trial of rape, homicide, domestic violence, sexual assault and sexually violent predator cases. Ms. Dell’Anno began her legal career as a Public Defender in Tulare County and thereafter became a felony prosecutor at the Fresno District Attorney’s Office. While at the District Attorney’s Office, she was a member of the Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit and led the DA’s SAFE Team, which was responsible for coordinating and consolidating efforts among various law enforcement agencies to monitor the county’s sex offender population. Upon relocating to San Diego and joining the City Attorney’s Office, Ms. Dell’Anno quickly assumed a leadership role in the office’s Trial Unit and was subsequently selected to lead the Domestic Violence Unit in 2010. In that capacity, she implemented significant changes in the issuing standards for domestic violence cases while simultaneously securing an overall conviction rate of 94%. Drawing from her experience in prosecuting sexual assault crimes against both adult and child victims, Ms. Dell’Anno oversaw the successful transfer of all sex crimes prosecutions to the Domestic Violence Unit. In 2012, Ms. Dell’Anno was promoted to Assistant City Attorney, to lead the Criminal Division in partnership with Angie Reddish-Day. She graduated with honors from The University of Delaware and earned her Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law.
