Councilmembre Lightner was joined by Lifeguards Mark Feighan, Jon Vipond, Daryl McDonald and Peter Liebig in proclaiming November 16, 2010 as “Valiant San Diego Lifeguard Day” in the City of San Diego.

Feighan, Vipond, McDonald, and Liebig were awarded the U.S. Lifeguard Association National Medal of Valor for rescuing 6 victims after a boat capsized in stormy waters in the Mission Bay Channel in November, 2009.
