Shaw Valley Trail
On February 8, 2004 Councilman Scott Peters was joined by dozens of hikers and equestrians from the Carmel Valley and Del Mar Mesa Communities to officially open the Shaw Valley Trail. The trail will link the CVREP trail that runs from El Camino Real to Carmel Country Road with trails in the Los Penasquitos Canyon and beyond. Councilman Peters has been an advocate for the creation of an urban trails system that allows people to enjoy our open space preserves. The Shaw Valley Trail is part of the larger trans-county trail system that seeks to link the beaches with the back country. The completion of the trail marks years of work by dedicated members of the Del Mar Mesa and Carmel Valley communities. Councilman Peters thanked the dozens of people who helped on the project, most notably Jan Hudson with the Del Mar Mesa Planning Board, and Anne Harvey with the Carmel Valley Planning Board. Both have been strong advocates for trails in the area.
