New Tot Lot at Solana Highlands Park
On Wednesday, April 16, 2003, Councilman Scott Peters was joined by Ellen Oppenheim, Director of Park and Recreation, and children and parents from the Carmel Valley Community to dedicate the new tot lot equipment at Solana Highlands Park.
"It is a wonderful thing to be dedicating this new tot lot equipment for the kids of Carmel Valley," said Councilman Peters. "Parks improve a neighborhood's quality of life. Improving the parks we have and building new parks is a top priority for me."
The original tot lot equipment at Solana Highlands Park was removed several years ago due to new State safety standards that deemed the old equipment unsafe. Councilman Peters worked with the Park and Recreation Department and the Carmel Valley Recreation Council to find the funding to replace the equipment.
"The removal of the tot lot was a major loss to the community. I am pleased that we were able to get new equipment that will serve the families of Carmel Valley," noted Councilman Peters.
