Coast Walk Improvements
On January 26, 2004 Councilman Peters was joined by La Jolla residents for the ribbon cutting on the expansion and improvements to Coast Walk. Coast walk is one of San Diego’s premiere strolling areas. Located above the bluffs of La Jolla the walk takes people past La Jolla landmarks like the Museum of Contemporary Art, The Children’s Pool, and La Jolla Cove. The South end of Coast Walk was recently improved by widening the ocean-side of the walk, adding decorative pavement and removing parking on the ocean-side to improve views. Seating areas were created using decorative concrete with sitting walls covered in sea shells, and benches angled to take advantage of the views. Landscaping enhancements and structural work on the bluffs were also incorporated as part of this project. The project will be continued North near La Jolla Cove in 2004. Councilman Peters was pleased to join the community for the official unveiling of this eagerly anticipated enhancement project.
