New Stairs at La Jolla Cove
On March 21, 2003 Councilman Scott Peters joined John Lorman with the California Coastal Conservancy, and members of the La Jolla Cove Swim Club for the dedication of the new stairs at La Jolla Cove.
The rehabilitation of the north and south stairs provides a safer access for swimmers and snorkelers who frequent La Jolla Cove. The old stairs were made of wood and had been extensively damaged from heavy use and exposure to the elements. The $350,000 project was paid for through a $120,000 grant from the California Coastal Conservancy, and the balance was funded by the City of San Diego.
At the event Councilman Peters noted, "La Jolla Cove is one of the very special places that make up our quality of life in La Jolla. Taking care of our coastal infrastructure is a major priority for me and I am pleased that we were able to get this project done for the community."
