Councilman Scott Peters, the La Jolla Community Planning Association, the La Jolla Town Council, the City Engineering and Capital Projects, the Park and Recreation Departments and La Jolla residents celebrated the completion of the La Jolla Cove Wall project with a ribbon cutting. The La Jolla Cove Wall Project is the second of 3 bluff stabilization projects planned as a result of Councilman Scott Peters’ coastal infrastructure investment program. The projects include Coast Boulevard Walkway and Erosion Control, The La Jolla Cove Wall, The Children’s Pool and Scripps Park bluff stabilization. All three erosion control projects represent over 1 Million dollars in infrastructure improvements for the La Jolla Coastline. The Cove Wall was built with material that stabilizes the bluff but blend to look like the bluff itself.
The ceremony included comments made by California Coastal Commissioner, City Councilman Scott Peters, Park and Recreation’s Department Director, Ellen Oppenheim, La Jolla Parks and Beaches Committee Chair, Deborah Lindholm and Patti Boekamp in City Engineering Capital Projects.
"Coastal infrastructure investments are critical to San Diego’s future and economic well-being. The La Jolla Cove Wall Project was an important investment. We were successful in stabilizing the coastal bluff, improving safety and aesthetics for residents and visitors," said Peters. "Our coastline defines our quality of life in San Diego, and I am dedicated to protecting and preserving these coastal treasures," said Peters.
