Community Issues - Pending Projects
Torrey Pines Corridor Traffic and Beautification
In response to numerous questions from the community regarding
traffic and safety conditions on Torrey Pines Rd, between La Jolla
Shores Dr. and Girard St., during the period Transportation Planning
staff were working on the Throat intersections project, Councilman
Peters requested a traffic corridor study of that section of Torrey
Pines Road. It has now been over six months since the completion
of the intersection, traffic is relatively settled and will enable
a meaningful evaluation of the corridor.
During the Torrey Pines Rd corridor study, Councilman Peters has
requested that he be informed of all projects currently contemplated
in the corridor. He has requested a hold on the design and planning
of these projects until the corridor study is completed, unless
the project is to remedy an eminent safety condition(s) in which
case after the consultation with the community and Transportation
Planning it should move forward. This will enable all projects to
be evaluated in the context of the larger corridor study and allow
for better resource allocation.
Torrey Pines Road Guardrail Project
Councilman Peters has requested that the La Jolla Community Planning
Association Subcommittee on Guardrail work in conjunction with Traffic
Planning Staff and the corridor study. The entire study will take
about a year, but Traffic Planning staff will complete the corridor
study area at the site of the guardrail first to expedite discussion
of this project.
