2001 Accomplishments in Torrey Pines

Ended Flooding of Roselle Street
Councilman Peters worked with City staff to ensure that periodic clearing of Sorrento Creek occurs to prevent flooding. It had been 3 years since the channel was last cleared.

Carmel Valley Road Enhancement Project/Task Force
A task force was formed to develop a consensus on future enhancements to Carmel Valley Road. The City's Land Use and Housing Committee heard the recommendations from the Task Force on December 12 and voted unanimously to approve the task force recommendations and move for final approval before the full City Council.

Closure of Sorrento Valley Road for Use as a Bicycle and Pedestrian Amenity
In March the City Council directed the City manager to develop a pedestrian-oriented reuse design for Sorrento Valley Road. Shortly thereafter, Councilmember Scott Peters formed a Task Force to make these recommendations to the council. It is hoped that this new amenity can be linked to the CVREP trail and Carmel Valley Road.

Del Mar Terrace Underground Utilities District
Broke ground on the project to underground overhead utilities in this area through a unique self assessment process that will become a model for other communities.
