Was an environmental review completed for this Project?
YES. A Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND), that met all the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) was prepared for the North Torrey Pines Bridge project by the City of San Diego and certified by the San Diego City Council. The MND was also reviewed by the California Coastal Commission as part of the process for approval of the project.
The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) is a state law that requires an environmental review of projects to provide information to the decision makers and the general public about the environmental consequences of a proposed action and to assure that measures which can be taken to minimize environmental impacts are undertaken whenever feasible. There are different levels of review that are required depending on the specific project.
CEQA Guidelines specifically allow for the preparation of a Mitigated Negative Declaration for this project. An EIR, another type of CEQA review, was not required for this project.
