January 1990 CalTrans authorizes City of San Diego to proceed with preliminary design and environmental review for a 4-lane bridge.
January 1995 City adopted the Torrey Pines Community Plan Update redesignating North Torrey Pines Road as a 3-lane road.
February 1996 Coastal Commission certifies the Torrey Pines Local Coastal Plan with North Torrey Pines Road designated as a 3-lane primary arterial road.
April 1996 City of San Diego accepts Coastal Commission certification.
1996 to 1999 City of San Diego resumes design and environmental work.
December 1999 San Diego City Council certifies the Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for the 3-lane bridge configuration.
December 2000 Councilman Peters sworn into office.
January 2001 to June 2002 Councilman Peters holds 15 meetings with community, city staff, City of Del Mar, environmental groups, and other stakeholders to see if

July 9, 2002 California Coastal Commission on an 8 to 1 vote approves Torrey Pines Bridge
