Lagoon Benefits

  • Replacement of 72 pilings with 4 pilings enhances the tidal flow into and out of the Los Peñasquitos Lagoon.

  • Design of bridge facilitates dredging of the channel as needed to increase the tital prism.

  • Planting of native vegetation on southeast retaining wall and slope replaces weedy exotic species which invade coastal strand and salt marsh habitats.

  • Enhancement of existing vegetation on adjacent slopes further improves water quality by increased filtering of stormwater runoff.
