Risk to the Lagoon

Without natural flushing, the health of the Lagoon is at risk. Biologists with The Los Peñasquitos Lagoon Foundation, a non-profit group dedicated to the preservation of the lagoon, have said that the lagoon is slowly dying, and reconstruction of the bridge with 4 pilings as opposed to the current 72 is imperative to allow natural flushing to occur. Delays of several years to find additional dollars for a different bridge configuration could cause severe injury to the Lagoon environment. Benefits to the Lagoon.
