Doyle Off-Leash Dog Park
On February 8, 2003 Councilman Scott Peters joined University City
residents and dog owners for the opening of the Doyle Off-Leash
Dog Park. Over 50 people and canines participated in the ceremonial
"first frisbee toss" to officially open the new park.
Councilman Peters thanked the Doyle Recreation Council and the
University City Dog Owners for their hard work and dedication to
this project. During the ceremony Councilman Peters noted, "this
is a great community builder. People will come to this park and
get to know their neighbors. This is the type of project that really
improves the quality of life for people in the area and I am pleased
that we were able to get this done for the community."
The .9 acre area is located in the far corner of the park near Cargill
Street. The dog park is fenced into two sections, one for large
dogs and one for small dogs, and is double gated to avoid runaways.
This new community enhancement was funded through the City's Park
Service District Funds and through the hard work and generous donations
of area dog owners.
