North University Community Branch Library & Nobel Athletic Area Under Construction
Every community deserves a library and park to call its own. Today, this is becoming a reality for the residents and businesses in University City. Scheduled to open in the September 19th, the North University Community Branch Library, Nobel Athletic Area and Recreation Center are under construction.
The site is located on Nobel Drive, between Judicial Drive and Shoreline Drive. Design for this unique project began in 2002. My staff and I worked together with the community to plan this 30-acre park, which incorporates many of the amenities desired by the local community, and approximately 24 additional acres to the prior existing baseball field.
I am pleased that project design incorporates many of the amenities desired by the community. The project integrates a library into active and passive recreation facilities. This includes two softball fields, three soccer fields, a tot lot, picnic areas and the communities' second off-leash dog area.
Construction is over 90% complete, with the Grand Opening Celebration currently planned for September 19th at 2:00 p.m.
