La Jolla Village Drive Widening Project - Fact Sheet

Total project cost - $7.9 million, $7.4 million of which came from the Facilities Benefits Assessment, funded by a portion of building permit fees.
Project initiated - Fall 2004
Capacity improvements - Approximately 4,200 feet of La Jolla Village Drive was widened to six lanes (with two additional auxiliary lanes from Gilman drive to Villa La Jolla) to accommodate the high traffic demands. This project also added the fourth westbound lane on La Jolla Village Drive from I-5 off ramp to Villa La Jolla Drive.
Other improvements – Sidewalk and bike lanes, landscaping and drainage, structural improvements to the Gilman Drive bridge.
Average daily trips (ADT´s) on La Jolla Village Drive – 60,000
New landscaping planted – approximately 40 trees and bushes
Street lights installed – 30
