Mira Sorrento Place Improvement Project
On September 22, 2006 Council President Scott Peters welcomed the completion of a project to expand and extend Mira Sorrento Place, which connects Scranton Road and Vista Sorrento Parkway. Mira Sorrento Place provides an alternate access to Scranton Road from I-805. This will
reduce the traffic volume at the Mira Mesa Boulevard and Scranton Road intersection, one of the busiest in Sorrento Valley.
Council President Peters worked closely with Councilman Brian Maienschein, with whom he shares leadership of Sorrento Valley, to complete the much-needed connector.
"This Council's priority has been to build the traffic relief projects that have been on the books for decades," Peters stated. "This project, along with SR 56, Vista Sorrento Parkway and Carroll Canyon Road are vital improvements for local commuters and businesses."
The project features and improvements include asphalt pavement, sidewalks, curb & gutters, storm drains and permanent BMP facilities, street lights, fire hydrants, reclaimed water irrigation system, water lines, low maintenance landscaping as well as enhanced landscaping for the retaining walls, retaining walls, and traffic signals.
In addition to the completion of the Mira Sorrento project, QUALCOMM completed the construction of an additional lane to the I-805 north bound/Vista Sorrento Parkway off ramp. The Mira Sorrento Place improvement project broke ground in April of 2004, with a total project
cost of $12,234,852.
