Monte Verde
The current approved plan designates the southwest corner of La Jolla Village Drive and Genesee Avenue as a 400-room hotel, with a maximum height of 14 stories.
The original Monte Verde project amendment proposed 800 units in four high-rise towers between 32 and 35 stories on a 4.77-acre site. A public hearing was held at the Planning Commission on March 15th. At this meeting, the Planning Commission recommended approval of a 21 story EIR alternative, which proposes 408 units in four high-rise towers between 18 and 21 stories tall.
To date, the original 800-unity Monte Verde project has been revised to reflect a 560-unit project. This revision proposes 560-units in four high-rise towers ranging between 21 and 23 stories on a 4.77-acre site.
Council President Peters supports an open and responsive process which allows all members of the community to participate in creating a better future for University City. Peters has not taken a position on Monte Verde, and looks forward to continue hearing community input as the process moves forward to City Council for action.
