UC Recycling Program

The City of San Diego has a drop-off recycling program at many Park & Recreation Centers throughout the region. Residents can recycle aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles and jars and newspapers.

Community members are encouraged to bring their recyclables to the bins at each Center, because the revenues earned are reinvested into that particular Center. Each Center decides how best to spend the money earned from this program, but common choices include recreation equipment and programs, sports uniforms, picnic tables and field trips. Councilman Peters is proud that Doyle and Standley Recreation Center’s have consistently been one of the top revenue generators for recycling programs in the City of San Diego. In fact, District 1 had three of the top seven recylcing centers in the last report. In the University City area, residents can bring their recyclables to either Standley or Doyle Park.
