Carmel Mountain and Del Mar Mesa Preserves Resource Management Plan - Comments Due April 9, 2010
The Carmel Mountain and Del Mar Mesa Preserves ("the Preserves") enhance San Diegan’s quality of life by adding recreation, the feeling of openness and interaction with nature.
The Carmel Mountain and Del Mar Mesa Preserves Resource Management Plan ("the Plan") has been prepared to provide guidelines for the protection and maintenance of preserved natural open space in the Preserves. The Plan is currently available for review and comment on the City Planning and Community Investment Multiple Species Conservation Program (MSCP) website. City Council will later be asked to approve the plan.
The Plan’s boundaries are within the Carmel Valley and Del Mar Mesa Planning Areas. The Plan includes multi-use trail alignments that require Community Plan Amendments (CPA’s) for both Carmel Valley and Del Mar Mesa Community Plans. Additional CPA’s may be needed due to off-site trail connections affecting other Planning Areas. Up-to-date announcements regarding CPA’s will be posted to this website.
In a letter (PDF) dated, January 12, 2010, the Deputy Director of Open Space Parks in the City of San Diego requested all comments on the Final Draft of the Carmel Mountain and Del Mar Mesa Preserves Resource Management Plan to be sent to MSCP Biologist, Betsy Miller by March 10, 2010. In response to community concerns, Councilmember Lightner requested a 30 day extension of the public comment to give all interested parties adequate time to review the Plan. Comments are now due on Friday, April 9th, 2010.
