Del Mar Fairgrounds Proposed Expansion

The State 22nd District Agricultural Association, which operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds, has proposed a major expansion, including:

  • new exhibit building
  • condominium hotel
  • health club/sports training facility
  • new gate/administration office facility
  • electronic reader board sign along I-5
  • parking structure
  • seasonal train platform
  • paving the East parking lot
  • realignment of the Solana Gate road
  • relocating existing Fairgrounds maintenance buildings
  • relocating existing fire station
  • demolishing of several existing structures
  • widening the turf track
  • rebuilding stables
  • new Horseman's village

Public Comment Period Extended for Draft EIR

The public comment period for the draft EIR has been extended until February 8th, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.

Councilmember Lightner had requested a 30 day extension of the public review period due to the extreme length of the document and the timing of the review period.
