Del Mar Fairgrounds Proposed Expansion
The State 22nd District Agricultural Association, which operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds, has proposed a major expansion, including:
- new exhibit building
- condominium hotel
- health club/sports training facility
- new gate/administration office facility
- electronic reader board sign along I-5
- parking structure
- seasonal train platform
- paving the East parking lot
- realignment of the Solana Gate road
- relocating existing Fairgrounds maintenance buildings
- relocating existing fire station
- demolishing of several existing structures
- widening the turf track
- rebuilding stables
- new Horseman's village

Public Comment Period Extended for Draft EIR
The public comment period for the draft EIR has been extended until February 8th, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.
Councilmember Lightner had requested a 30 day extension of the public review period due to the extreme length of the document and the timing of the review period.
