Emerald Hills
View a detailed map of Emerald Hills (PDF: 2.71Mb) The community of Emerald Hills derives its name from the Emerald Hills Country Club and Golf Course that was established in 1959. A former sacred Indian burial ground once occupied the land where radio transmitter towers currently stand near 60th Street. A beautifully landscaped “Emerald Hills” community sign welcomes residents and visitors to the community. It is bounded by MLK Fwy (94) and Federal Blvd to the north, on the south by Market Street, on the west by Euclid Avenue and on the east by 60th Street and Radio Drive. About 80% of all City of San Diego owned open space in the 4th District is in Emerald Hills. Residents organize monthly, 2nd Tuesday’s, 6:00 p.m. at Johnson Magnet School. Major facilities include Johnson Magnet School, Elementary Institute of Science, Malcolm X Library & Performing Arts Center and portions of Chollas Creek. |
