Jimmie Slack, Chief of Staff

Jimmie is responsible for the day to day operations of Councilman Young’s office. He supervises all staff and coordinates their assignments respectively. As senior policy advisor to the Councilman on public policy issues and matters before the City Council, he liaisons with other senior city officials, elected offices, community leaders, business leaders, and various boards and commissions.

Jimmie has an extensive background in both the public and private sector. He began his public service as an intern in County Supervisor Leon Williams Office. For the next twelve years he served in the positions of legislative assistant, senior legislative assistant, and Chief of Staff to Supervisor Williams. He was responsible for advising Supervisor Williams on policy issues affecting health and human services, the criminal justice system, and San Diego County’s budget. He also developed and assisted with implementing several policies and programs that improved the economic and social quality of life in communities throughout San Diego County.

Jimmie worked as Project Manager for ACS State and Local Solutions and was responsible for developing and managing various projects in San Diego, Los Angeles, Fresno, and Cincinnati Ohio. He graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Public Administration. For relaxation and fun Jimmie plays tennis, chess and enjoys reading science fiction.
