362 homes in Rancho Bernardo were lost to the Witch Creek Fire in late October. Since that time, my office and the City of San Diego have been dedicated to helping the families who were affected begin the difficult process of rebuilding. I am proud to say that we are making tremendous progress. To date, 34 new sets of plans have been submitted to Development Services and of those 8 have been issued building permits.
104 permits have been issued for the City’s demolition program. And for private contractor demolition the city has issued 34 permits. There are only 5 remaining lots in Rancho Bernardo that have not yet been cleared. Our community is working hard to rebuild stronger than before and I am honored to assist in this effort.
For updated information the website www.rbunited.com has been created to assist fire survivors with any information that they might need to assist them with the rebuilding process.
