Small businesses are the backbone of San Diego's economy, making up 93% of businesses operating in the City. However, being a small business owner isn't easy, and sometimes your city government is a hindrance rather than a help to our small businesses. The City has a Small Business Advisory Board to represent the concerns of small businesses. More importantly, the City offers support programs in collaboration with the Small Business Administration and a number of business and trade groups located throughout the city. Some of these groups include:

• San Diego Economic Development Corporation
• Business Improvement Districts
