The Honorable Mark Kersey
Councilmember District 5
Councilmember Kersey was sworn-in as District 5 City Councilmember in December of 2012. He is currently Chair of the Council's standing Committee on Infrastructure, and a member of the Rules & Economic Development Committee, Public Safety & Neighborhood Services Committee, and Budget & Finance Committee.
Prior to being elected to public office, Mark founded a local independent research and consulting firm for the telecommunications and high-tech industries.
Mark is involved in a variety of community organizations, including the Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club, the Rancho Bernardo Business Association, and the Spirit of the Fourth celebration. He also gives his time to First Book San Diego, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving childhood literacy.
Mark is an alumnus of Northwestern University and the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching tee ball and taking his son Tyler to Padres and Chargers games.
