"The diversity of both the people and environment in Linda Vista make it a special community. From its 16 distinct neighborhoods to Tecolote Canyon, there is much to enjoy in Linda Vista."

Linda Vista, taken from the Spanish for “beautiful view,” is a primarily residential community with distinct neighborhoods. It is centrally located in the City of San Diego near Clairemont Mesa, Mission Valley and Mission Bay Park. Besides location, its other great assets include cultural diversity and the presence of the University of San Diego. Linda Vista includes more than 11,000 residences and 16 distinct neighborhoods:

Alcala Knolls, Casa Bella, Central Linda Vista, Chesterton, Fashion Heights, Friars Road, Friars Village, Linda Vista Hills, Linda Vista Village, Manon Terrace, Mission Heights, North Rim, Overlook Heights, Silver Terrace, University Canyon, Wheatly

Linda Vista includes one of the City’s most beautiful open space resources—Tecolote Canyon. Visitors can enjoy oak, sycamore and willow trees along Tecolote Creek, coastal sage scrub on the slopes and vistas from the canyon rim.

Development in Linda Vista began with the Silver Terrace subdivision in the late 1880s, but the greatest growth occurred between 1941 and 1945, when aspiring aircraft workers and their families poured into San Diego. The Federal government became concerned that poor living conditions were impacting the productivity of defense workers and began the Linda Vista Housing Project over the protests of the City.
