| FRYE PROVIDES MUCH-NEEDED PUBLIC FUNDING
TO THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF CLAIREMONT |
| |
| San Diego -- Councilmember Donna Fyre announced
today an $80,000 pledge of her City Council District allotment of Federal
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to the Boys and Girls Club
of Clairemont.
|
| The $80,000 allocated to the Boys and Girls Club by Councilmember Frye
will help fund the installation of solar panels for the pool, fund the replacement
of the roof above the pool and pay for the painting of the exterior of the
building. The installation of the solar panels will help the Boys and Girls
Club offset the high cost of energy. |
| I am very excited to be able to support the thousands of children
who utilize the Boys and Girls Club of Clairemont, Frye stated. It
is my goal to ensure that funds intended to be used in our neighborhoods,
actually stay in our neighborhoods. |
| In addition to the $80,000 for the Boy and Girls Club, Councilmember Frye
allocated $200,000 for architectural barrier removal throughout District
Six. Audible traffic signals will be installed at the following locations;
Clairemont Mesa Blvd and Clairemont Drive (East and West), Clairemont Mesa
Blvd and Diane, Clairemont Mesa Blvd and Limerick St, Clairemont Mesa Blvd
and Rolfe Rd, Genesee Ave and Genesee Court East and Genesee Ave and Marlesta
Ave. In addition to the audible signals, approximately 65 pedestrian ramps
will be installed throughout Clairemont making access for the disabled,
elderly and young children more available. |
| These are exactly the type of projects that Community Development Block
Grants should be funding, Frye stated. It will benefit
all the citizens of Clairemont, especially those who are in the greatest
need. |
