Frye Cuts Ribbon on Clairemont Tot lot San Diego - Today, Councilmember Donna Frye joined local school children to celebrate the re-opening of the children's play area at the North Clairemont Community Park. A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held to mark the official opening of the newly remodeled tot-lot. The North Clairemont Tot-lot has been closed since October while it was being upgraded. New play equipment was installed and it was made accessible to disabled persons. The new equipment includes a large play structure, swings and spring toys. Frye stated, "It is important that we have safe, accessible and fun outdoor play areas for our children. The North Clairemont Park has served our neighborhood for many years and it was time that we upgraded it to meet the needs of the community." To ensure that the tot-lot project would not be delayed, Frye allocated $50,000 of District Six Infrastructure funds to cover last minute shortfalls. Funding for this project also included money from Park Bond funds approved by voters in 2000. This is one of the first projects funded with the 2000 Park Bond to be completed. "The North Clairemont Recreation Council was instrumental in the design and implementation of this project. This tot-lot would not have been as successful as it is without all of the community involvement. When the City and the community work together towards a common goal the results are amazing," Frye commented. # # # |
