Councilmember Frye and Mayor Murphy Break Ground on Silver Terrace Park San Diego - Saturday, February 15th at 10:00 AM, Community Members from Silver Terrace will join Mayor Dick Murphy and Councilmember Donna Frye for a ceremonial ground breaking of the planned Silver Terrace Neighborhood Park. The new Mini-Park, will help supplement existing parkland in Silver Terrace and the greater Linda Vista community. "Parks are vital resources for our neighborhoods," Mayor Dick Murphy said. "This one will provide a much-needed asset to the Silver Terrace community, which does not currently have a park within walking distance. It also will help achieve my Goal #3, creating neighborhoods we can be proud of." The new Mini-Park design is taking advantage of vacant parkland and creating passive recreational opportunities, seating and picnic facilities, barbecues, and even a small playground and sand play area. The park will truly create opportunities for the neighborhood to come together for the first in their own park for the first time. Councilmember Frye said, "My number one priority is to preserve and create open space throughout District Six. There is no element more basic to our communities than public space to gather and recreate." Community residents are encouraged to attend the celebration and ceremonial ground breaking for the Silver Terrace Neighborhood Park located at 5550 Friars Road. It is on the north side of Friars Road, between Napa and Colusa Streets. Please join us for a brief presentation and refreshments following the ground breaking. # # # |
