Mission Trails Regional Park
Mission Trails Regional Park consists of over 8,000 acres of pristine natural habitat and developed parkland that lies just eight miles from downtown San Diego. The park provides an urban respite for visitors and residents of San Diego with its extensive trail system and open space recreation opportunities.
Nestled just between the San Carlos, Allied Gardens and Tierrasanta communities, Mission Trails Regional Park is often referred to as the third jewel of all San Diego major parks in addition to Balboa Park and Mission Bay. As one of the largest urban parks in the United States, Mission Trails Regional Park offers an excellent opportunity for visitors to experience the historical, cultural, and outstanding recreational aspects of San Diego.
Some of the key features of Mission Trails Regional Park include Cowles Mountain, Fortuna Mountain, the San Diego River, the Equestrian Staging Area, Kumeyaay Lake, Lake Murray, Old Mission Dam, the state-of-the-art Visitor and Interpretive Center, and over 40 miles of extensive trails enjoyed by thousands of residents and visitors each year.
