Habitat for Humanity to Build 100th San Diego Home in District 7

On Friday, July 31st , Councilmember Marti Emerald was in District 7’s Redwood Village for the ground breaking of Habitat for Humanity’s 100th home in San Diego. Not only will this be their 100th home built in San Diego, but for the first time in their history, they will design and build a 100-percent green home, with the latest in energy-saving features. This 2 story, 4 bedroom home will be built on an undeveloped lot at the corner of 60th and Rock in Councilmember Emerald’s District 7. Ms. Emerald was joined at the ground-breaking ceremony by Mayor Jerry Sanders and Councilmember Todd Gloria.

Councilmember Emerald is a tireless advocate for affordable housing and she was delighted to learn that this Habitat for Humanity home would be built in District 7. The Councilmember spoke about how this energy-efficient house will help a deserving family in the neighborhood build a future.

Councilmember Emerald took time after the ceremony to personally thank Habitat for Humanity’s volunteers for the incredible job they do for helping dreams of home ownership come true for many families in San Diego.
