SDSU Master Plan Environmental Impact Report (EIR) Update

November 8, 2007

SDSU has posted their Master Plan EIR and you can view it online at www.sdsu.edu/masterplan. Click on the Approval Process tab, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll see the sections of the Final EIR.

The City of San Diego and SDSU are at an impasse regarding SDSU's "fair share" of any mitigation. The City of San Diego is particularly concerned with four areas:

  • Alvarado Road between College Avenue and Reservoir Drive
  • Montezuma Road from 55th Street to College Avenue
  • College Avenue from Montezuma Road to Canyon Crest Drive
  • The I-8/College Avenue Interchange (The City believes SDSU's contribution should be approximately $21 million and SDSU has offered only $7 million.)

The last opportunity for members of the public to voice opinions and share concerns will be during the California State University Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday and Thursday November 13th and 14th in Long Beach.

The Committee on Campus Planning, Buildings and Grounds will meet on Wednesday, November 14th. This is when the public will have an opportunity to weigh in on this important project.

Meeting details are as follows:

Time: 8:30am – public testimony is allowed and representatives from City of San Diego will be testifying.

Location: Dumke Conference Center, 401 Golden Shore, Long Beach, CA 90802
