Advisory Groups
The Mission Trails Regional Park Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), Task Force and Foundation all contribute to the development, protection and enhancement of the Park.
The CAC provides for citizen input on issues affecting the Park. It is made up of people who represent cities and community groups in and around the Park. Current members include: Chair Dorothy Leonard, Vice Chair Judy McCarty, Members-at-large Nancy Acevedo and Walter Odening, San Carlos Representative John Pilch, La Mesa Representative Pete Cuthbert, El Cajon Representative Richard Gadler, San Diego Park and Recreation Representative Norman Greene, Santee Representative Gene Hatton, Tierrasanta Representative David Oates, Special Member Mike Pent, SDSU Representative Sedra Shapiro, County Parks and Recreation Representative Roger Utt, Senior Park Ranger Tracey Walker and District Manager David Monroe. CAC meets the first Tuesday of odd months at 7:00 PM at the Visitor and Interpretive Center.
The Mission Trails Task Force is comprised of elected officials whose jurisdictions govern Mission Trails Regional Park. They make policy recommendations to the City Council. The Task Force is Chaired by Councilmember Jim Madaffer. Other members include Councilmember Donna Frye, Supervisor Dianne Jacob, Supervisor Pam Slater, Santee Councilmember Brian Jones, La Mesa Vice Mayor Ruth Sterling and CAC Chair Dorothy Leonard.
The Mission Trails Foundation was created to promote special fundraising programs for the Park. It also aims to provide and promote educational and recreational opportunities. Its Board of Directors include Nancy Acevedo, Johnnie Perkins, Marjorie Ferrante, Don Steele, Betty Ogilvie, Gene Hatton, Bill Sperling, Dorothy Leonard, Gary Krueger, Joe Morse, Carlton Morse, Tom Story, Connie Wood and Walter Odening.
