MTRP North
The Rancho Encantada project was a huge leap toward achieving that goal of acquiring more acreage for Mission Trails Regional Park. As part of the agreement, this area located east of Scripps Ranch will provide 1,816 acres of open space in what we are calling Mission Trails Regional Park North adding to the Park's existing 6,000 acres.
The land will be maintained by the City as part of Mission Trails Regional Park with facilities operated by the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation as a permanent preserve of open space as well as a place of recreation. Our rangers will staff the area and already they are working on plans to link existing and new trails.
The trail system will connect the newly acquired property with existing trails of Mission Trails Regional Park as well as trails in Goodin Ranch, Sycamore Canyon Park and connecting to the Trans-County Trail which links to the Pacific Crest Trail stretching north to the Canadian border.
The park will also receive 35,000 square feet of buildings that can be used for a variety of purposes as the Foundation ultimately decides.
