A recent survey of San Diego residents found that a huge majority – 97% -- agree or strongly agree that “Overall, San Diego is a good place to live.” Reinforcing that sentiment is the fact that 84% consider the quality of life in San Diego excellent or good. Reading these statistics is hugely gratifying because it means that we have been able to continue to provide core services despite the economy’s impact on our revenue.
That said, we also learned that residents want us to get rid of graffiti and to fix and maintain our City’s streets. Many of you know that I have a full-time graffiti remover on staff. Mauricio covers the entire district and has developed a good reputation for quick service and good work. If you see graffiti in your neighborhood, call my office at 619 236 6688 and report the location.
I am happy to report that the City is taking steps to address the condition of our streets citywide. District 8 has received 22% of the total project’s funding. View this map of District 8 (PDF) streets that are scheduled for either overlay (for streets in very bad condition) or slurry sealing (for streets that need attention, but not significant repair.)
I will continue to do all I can to ensure you continue to feel positively about living in San Diego.
Our Vision: The City of San Diego is financially stable, environmentally sound, and moving in the right direction. City government is trusted, fair, collaborative and efficient; citizens of San Diego are proud of their government.
