Fifth Grade Promotion at Rolando Park
On June 21, Councilmember Marti Emerald attended the Fifth Grade Promotion at Rolando Park Elementary School. Councilmember Emerald first took notice of this special group of students when the Safety Patrol approached her looking for her help to assist the children who were victims of the January earthquake in Haiti. With her support, students raised over $1,300 in cash donations, as well as a stage full of new and gently used goods for earthquake victims. Following the earthquakes in Concepcion, Chile, and Mexicali, Mexico, the students expanded their relief efforts to include aid for these devastated cities. It was an honor and a privilege for Councilmember Emerald to be invited to Rolando Park Elementary School’s Fifth Grade Promotion and to say a few words of thanks and encouragement to the Class of 2017.
