SAN DIEGO – More than 90 of the region’s premiere businesses will showcase hundreds of immediate job openings to San Diego’s workforce at the Students Are Valuable Employees/Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, National City, Enterprise Zone, South Bay (S.A.V.E./C.I.N.E.S.) Job Fair 2002. The event, the largest of its kind in the county, will be held Thursday, May 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the San Diego Concourse, Plaza Hall, 202 C St. in downtown San Diego.

The City of San Diego’s Community and Economic Development Department has taken a proactive role in San Diego’s employment concerns by forming a community partnership with the State’s Employment Development Department and the PennySaver, to present S.A.V.E./C.I.N.E.S. Job Fair 2002. In its sixth year, the Job Fair will assist the region’s workforce in finding employment. Many of the job seekers attending may leave with jobs, as all employers participating in S.A.V.E./C.I.N.E.S. Job Fair 2002 will offer immediate openings.

With more than 4,000 attendees at last year’s job fair, this year’s event is expected to attract numerous job seekers and businesses. A wide variety of positions will be offered, including entry-level jobs requiring little to no field experience. Participating employers will include businesses such as 24 Hour Fitness, College of Advanced Information Technology, Hyatt Hotels of San Diego, NurseFinders, SeaWorld, Sutherland Group Ltd., Time Warner Cable, U.S. Border Patrol, University of San Diego, SBC Pacific Bell, San Diego Transit Corporation, the City of San Diego and Wendy’s.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in three workshops, which will enable both job seekers and business owners/managers to become more successful in their careers.

11:45 a.m. Seven Steps to Business Success. Speaker: Nancy Fredericks

1:15 p.m. All the Right Moves. Learn the Seven Secrets to a Successful Careers Speaker: Lee Silber

S.A.V.E./C.I.N.E.S. Job Fair 2002 is being organized in partnership with the State’s Employment Development Department, the City of San Diego’s Community and Economic Development Department, San Diego Workforce Partnership, Southwestern Community College, Small Business Development & International Trade Center, Comprehensive Training Systems, MAAC Project and presented by the PennySaver.

With an emphasis on the City’s urban core neighborhoods and low and moderate income residents, the Community and Economic Development Department strives to improve the quality of life and ensure a healthy economy in San Diego through job development, business development, neighborhood revitalization, public improvements, redevelopment, social services, and revenue enhancement.
