City Offers New Web Resource for Local Businesses
Online Mapping System Helps Businesses, Investors Locate Incentive Zones; Business Resources
SAN DIEGO, CA - In an effort to assist and encourage private industry investment and development, the City of San Diego has created a new, convenient way via its web site to access information on various incentive zones and business resources located throughout San Diego.
The Business Development and Incentive Zone Mapping System, which can be found on the City's web site at www.sandiego.gov, can quickly determine where incentive zones are located and the benefits each zone offers, making it easy to determine which incentives may apply to a business according to its location. The mapping system provides specific, property-based information that allows visitors to enter either a property address or Assessor Parcel Number to identify incentives offered if they are located in a certain zone or district.
Incentives can include state and federal tax credits and deductions, special financing, fee deferrals, permit assistance, wage credits, employment training, site assembly, and other types of business and development assistance.
"With 19 Business Improvement Districts, 15 Redevelopment Project Areas, three Enterprise Zones, a Foreign Trade Zone, Recycling Market Development Zones and a Renewal Community, the City of San Diego is undeniably zoned for incentives," said Hank Cunningham, director of the Community and Economic Development Department. "We hope that by making the information available in this format, businesses will be more likely to take advantage of the incentives we have to offer."
While the City of San Diego provides numerous opportunities for enterprise, many businesses and potential investors are unfamiliar with the incentives available to them. The need for a user-friendly, accessible information guide led the City's Community and Economic Development Department to create this new online resource. This new mapping system is part of the City's ongoing efforts to create a business-friendly environment by creating programs and services that help businesses succeed. The City has a wide array of programs offering other incentives, including business expansion and retention assistance, small business assistance, storefront improvement rebates, targeted loans and other financing assistance, and commercial revitalization investment.
For more information on the Business Development and Incentive Zone Mapping System and other business assistance programs, visit the City's Web site at www.sandiego.gov and type "business development" in the search field or contact the Community and Economic Development Department at (619) 533-4233.
