City Makes Nearly $18 Million in Grant Funding Available
Annual Community Development Block Grant Application Process Begins; Applicant Workshops Scheduled

San Diego – Approximately $18 million in funding is now available for nonprofits and other eligible organizations that provide services and projects that benefit low- and moderate-income residents in the City of San Diego.

Each year, the City of San Diego receives grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to dedicate to services and public infrastructure projects for low- and moderate-income residents.  In accordance with the adopted City Council policy, sixty percent (60%) or approximately $10,000,000 to $11,000,000 will be available for distribution by the Council through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).  This figure is subject to adjustments based on pledges made by individual Council Districts for Section 108 loans and other commitments.

There will be four technical assistance workshops for applicants.  All four workshops are identical, and attendance is optional.  The submittal deadline for CDBG applications is 5:00 p.m.on January 31, 2005. 

The workshops will be held at the following times and locations:         

·        Wednesday, December 8, 2004, 10 am – 11:30 am and 2 pm - 3:30 pm, Recital Hall, 2130 Pan American Rd, Balboa Park, San Diego

·        Wednesday, January 12, 2005, 10 am – 11:30 am and 2 pm - 3:30 pm, Ballroom, 2150 Pan American Rd, Balboa Park, San Diego
