The San Diego City Council approved the FY 2010 Fiscal Reform in June 2009 which included establishment of The Citizens Revenue Review and Economic Competitiveness Commission is being established under the auspices of the City of San Diego's Budget and Finance Committee.

City government is going into uncharted waters as we face a continuance erosion of revenues based on the nationwide economic recession, the State of California "borrowing" from the City to balance its budget, and a significant increase in expenditures including an over $225 million pension payment due in 2010.

Currently San Diego businesses are struggling to stay in business or to remain in San Diego to do business. Businesses seeking to locate to San Diego may be finding it very difficult to locate to San Diego.

The citizens of San Diego are rightfully demanding that we maintain and deliver quality, efficient, and effective City services which improve their lives and communities.

Citizens Revenue Review and Economic Competitiveness Commission will have the following mandates.

Engage the public and private sectors in reviewing best practices and strategies designed to retain businesses in San Diego and attract businesses to San Diego and make recommendations towards providing efficient, effective and quality city services which improve the quality of life of all San Diego's communities while also maintaining a balanced budget with limited revenues.
