Approval

Once approved at a hearing or by staff, you will be asked to sign your permit and it will be recorded in San Diego County Recorder. (Some discretionary approvals do not require recordation. Ask your DPM.) After your permit is recorded, you will then submit your development plans for construction permit ministerial review, which will determine if your plan conforms to entitlement documents, building code, and municipal code. This review is called ministerial because, unlike discretionary review, if the plans conform to the Land Development Code, they will be approved without a hearing or decision maker. If the discretionary action is denied, you may appeal the decision in most cases to a higher decision maker. If approved at the appeal hearing, you again would then submit your plans for the construction permit ministerial review. See Plan Review, which is the next step in the development process.
