INSPECTION LINE IT’S EASY!

Use Our Automated Phone Line and Schedule Your Own Inspection: (858)581-7111

The City of San Diego’s Inspection Line, the fastest, easiest way to schedule a construction inspection. Available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, (Saturdays, Sundays and holidays too)! Inspection Line allows you to:

  • Schedule an inspection for the next business day
  • Schedule an inspection up to five days in advance
  • Cancel an inspection
  • Hear the results of a completed inspection
  • Also gives more information on how to use the system

When you request an activity, such as scheduling an inspection, simply follow the instruction given in the spoken prompts. Once you become familiar with the system you can interrupt most prompts by pressing the desired keys. If you are having problems scheduling, the system will transfer you to an operator who is available as a back up for the system from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Steps: (On a touch tone phone)

  1. Dial (858) 581-7111
  2. Press 2 to schedule an inspection.
  3. Enter your approval number, and then press the # key.
  4. Verify permit number, type and address. Press 1 to confirm.
  5. (Listen to the list of available inspections). Choose and enter an inspection code from one of the available inspections followed by the # sign.
  6. Press 1 to accept the scheduled date, press 2 to change the scheduled date, press 3 to change the inspection type.
  7. After your inspection has been scheduled and confirmed, Press 1 to hear your inspector’s name and phone number.
***NOTE*** Because of the high volume of calls, not all inspections can be completed on the day requested.
 IF YOU NEED A TIME FRAME FOR YOUR INSPECTION, LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR YOUR INSPECTOR THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED INSPECTION DATE. MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE A CALL BACK PHONE NUMBER THAT IS CLEAR AND UNDERSTANDABLE. YOUR INSPECTOR WILL CALL YOU BACK THE MORNING OF YOUR INSPECTION.
Should you experience any difficulty scheduling your inspections press zero (0). We have operators on the line to assist you from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Landscape Inspections

  1. Be prepared with the Project Number (PTS Number).
  2. fax a copy of the letter from the Landscape Professional stating that all items have been installed according to approved plans and specs. (FAX to: (858) 627-3365)
  3. Ensure that all Landscape and irrigation will be completely installed on the day of inspection
  4. Call (858) 627-3331 to schedule a Landscape Inspection. Please allow 48 hours to process and schedule your request

After Hours Inspections

After Hour inspections are available by special arrangement.

After Hour inspections cost approximately $434 for up to two hours of service. The cost is dependent upon when the permit was issued, so PLEASE CALL IN ADVANCE if you will be using a pre-made check to pay for the After Hour Inspection. We will need your approval number. Additional time beyond the first two hours will be charged at approximately $99 per hour.

After Hours inspections are performed before 7:00 a.m. and after 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday as well as on agreed upon times on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

There is only one location to pay for and schedule these inspections. Please go to the Inspection Office in Kearny Mesa at 9601 Ridgehaven Court Suite #220 San Diego, CA 92123 by 2:00 PM for evening or next morning inspection. At that time we will attempt to contact an inspector(s) in the field to if one is available to do the inspection.

Since After Hours inspections are subject to inspector availability, its imperative you schedule these as far in advance as possible.

Payment must be made prior to inspection. We accept check, money order, Visa and Master Card. All payments must be made in person.
