General Inspections

To use the automated Inspection Line system, call (858) 581-7111 anytime from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., 7 days a week. You may schedule inspections for the following business day right up until 10:00 p.m.

To reach an operator, during regular business hours, simply stay on the line without pressing any buttons. After the inspection is completed, you may call back to obtain the inspection result.

Steps: (On a touch tone phone)

1. Dial (858) 581-7111
2. Press the # key when the inspection line answers.
3. Press 1 when asked to "select the services that you want".
4. Enter your permit/approval # (______________), then # key. (Enter only numbers. Ignore the letter or dash.)
5. Press 1 to confirm entry.
6. Enter inspection # or code of available inspection. (Listen to list of available codes, Press 9 if necessary).
7. Press 1 to accept date of scheduled inspection.
8. Press 2 to hear inspector’s name and phone number.
9. For your records write down the
   Inspector's Name: ___________________
   Phone number: (858) ____________

IF YOU NEED A SPECIFIC TIME FRAME FOR YOUR INSPECTION, LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR YOUR INSPECTOR ANYTIME BEFORE 7:45 A.M. THE DAY OF YOUR INSPECTION. YOUR INSPECTOR WILL ATTEMPT TO CALL YOU BACK BEFORE 10:00 A.M. ON THE DAY OF YOUR INSPECTION TO GIVE YOU A GENERAL TIME FRAME.

***NOTE*** Because of the high volume of calls, not all inspections can be completed on the day requested.

Should you experience any difficulty in scheduling your inspections, stay on the line and don’t press any buttons. We have operators on duty to assist you from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For general, inspection-related questions you can contact a Senior Inspector between 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at (858) 492-5070, Monday - Friday.

Landscape Inspections

1. Be prepared with the Project Number (PTS Number).
2. fax a copy of the letter from the Landscape Professional stating that all items have been installed according to approved plans and specs. (FAX to: (858) 627-3365)
3. Ensure that all Landscape and irrigation will be completely installed on the day of inspection
4. Call (858) 627-3331 to schedule a Landscape Inspection. Please allow 48 hours to process and schedule your request

After Hours Inspections

After Hour inspections are available by special arrangement.

After Hour inspections cost approximately $434 for up to two hours of service. The cost is dependent upon when the permit was issued, so PLEASE CALL IN ADVANCE if you will be using a pre-made check to pay for the After Hour Inspection. We will need your approval number. Additional time beyond the first two hours will be charged at approximately $99 per hour.

After Hours inspections are performed before 7:00 a.m. and after 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday as well as on agreed upon times on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

There is only one location to pay for and schedule these inspections. Please go to the Inspection Office in Kearny Mesa at 9601 Ridgehaven Court Suite #220 San Diego, CA 92123 by 2:00 PM for evening or next morning inspection. At that time we will attempt to contact an inspector(s) in the field to if one is available to do the inspection.

Since After Hours inspections are subject to inspector availability, its imperative you schedule these as far in advance as possible.

Payment must be made prior to inspection. We accept check, money order, Visa and Master Card. All payments must be made in person.
