In the previous step, Define Project, we discussed how your project's scope determines the route it needs to take through the development process. Before the appropriate approval or permit can be issued for your project, some specific site information will be required.

What you need to do before going on to the next step:

  1. Determine Your Property's Zone and Other Site Criteria
  2. Check Permit Records and Mapping Information on Your Property

Preliminary Review

In some cases, the site may involve complex issues. The approval or permit requirement may not be simply determined. In these cases, you may want to request a Preliminary Review. For more information, see Information Bulletin 513 on Preliminary Review. (PDF: 213K)

Depending on your site conditions, it may be necessary to obtain discretionary approval before you can begin development. Please see the next step Discretionary Review for more information.
