Discretionary Review Time and Costs

A Deposit Account is necessary to process Discretionary Permits and Approvals (the initial deposit is drawn against to pay for the review of your project). See Information Bulletin 503: Fee/Deposit Schedule for Development & Policy Approvals/Permits (PDF: 116K) for more detailed information such as initial deposit requirement amounts based on project type.

When budgeting, it’s important to take into account not only the time City staff will require to review your project, but also the time your consultants will need to revise your project. The amount of time this process takes will depend on both your consultant’s and the City’s workloads and the level of code compliance presented in the plans. For discretionary reviews, the time required for public hearings should also be included in the scheduling of the project. For more information see Discretionary Review.
